How Can I Apply for an IFMA Foundation Scholarship? 

Applications for facility management scholarships are submitted through the IFMA Foundation during the annual application window. 

While requirements vary by scholarship, most applications include:

• Demonstrated interest in facility management or the built environment 

• Supporting documentation (such as transcripts or references) 

Each scholarship is reviewed by a committee of experienced facility management professionals using established evaluation criteria. Applicants are encouraged to review eligibility requirements carefully and submit all materials by the stated deadline. 

What Are the Eligibility Criteria for IFMA Foundation Scholarships? 

Eligibility depends on the specific scholarship, but the IFMA Foundation currently supports students and early-career professionals through two primary programs: 

IFMA Foundation Academic Scholarships 

The IFMA Foundation academic scholarship program has awarded more than $2 million to over 830 students since its launch in the early 1990s. 

Eligibility requirements include: 

• Enrollment at an accredited institution in facility management or a related field 

• Undergraduate (2-year or 4-year) or graduate student status at the time of application 

• A minimum GPA of 3.2 in FM or related courses 

• • International students must provide equivalent academic documentation to a 3.2 GPA 

• • Click International Grade Equivalencies or Dutch Grade Equivalencies as a basis to determine eligibility. 

• Willingness and availability to attend and participate in IFMA’s annual global World Workplace conference 

Scholarship recipients receive: 

• Scholarship ranging in value from $1,500 to $10,000 

• Fully subsidized travel, registration, and participation at World Workplace, IFMA’s flagship global conference

Eric Teicholz Sustainability Scholarship 

Founded through the generosity of IFMA Fellow Eric Teicholz and supporting sponsors, this scholarship provides full tuition coverage for the Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP) credential. The SFP is IFMA’s assessment-based credential focused on sustainability in facility management. It equips professionals with practical, data-driven tools to integrate sustainability into day-to-day operations. By earning the SFP credential, recipients gain recognized expertise in sustainable FM practices, improve operational efficiency and performance, influence economic, environmental and social outcomes, and support organizational goals tied to people, planet and profit.

Eligibility includes: 

• Students or young professionals (IFMA membership not required) 

• Currently studying or practicing facility management or a related field 

• Demonstrated interest in sustainability and the built environment 

Selection process: 

• Each application and score according to evaluation guidelines 

• Scores will be totaled, and the top applicants will be awarded the SFP scholarship 

• Diversity, financial need, potential impact of SFP on applicant/community are part of selection process

Can International Students Apply for IFMA Foundation Scholarships? 

Yes. International students are encouraged to apply for IFMA Foundation scholarships. 

Applicants outside the U.S. must provide academic documentation demonstrating achievement equivalent to the minimum GPA requirement. IFMA provides international grade equivalency resources to support applicants throughout the process.
